We reviewed the 24 fairy tales that we learned about during this unit.

Ms. Tipton acted out the fairy tale: Hansel and Gretal today.
We are proud of every student that received an award today.  Keep in mind that we give out a limited number of awards each semester.   Every student will receive at least one award each year.

We concluded the unit on Growing and Changing today also.  We read about how to properly plant seeds.

Then each student planted their own garden.  They will monitor the progress of each of their plants over the next few weeks.

We compared and contrasted the size of seeds.

 Today was also share day!!

We will plant our Gardens tomorrow

The class enjoyed completing a variety of "egg shaped" centers.

Friday will conclude our Fairy Tale unit.  We all have enjoyed studying fairy tales and twisted fairy tales.
The word work center instructions were to make contractions.  Ask your child which contraction that they made from the egg shaped pattern.
Playing cards are great ways to practice basic math facts.
We learned about the importance of coal in the state of KY.  Each child mined their own samples to bring home and share.

We used the cards to add numbers with regrouping.   Most students can now add numbers up to three place values in length.
Don't forget that tomorrow is the awards ceremony in the cafeteria at 10:00.   Keep in mind, that if your child is receiving an award I notified you via email.  We only give out a limit number of awards each grading period.

Chapter 12 math assessment

Students are working on the final stages of their fictional writing piece. Ask your child to tell you the setting , characters , problem and solution of their fairy tale.
We are learning about conjunctions and writing complex sentences that include conjunctions.

Today was our chapter twelve math assessment.  Please look over your child's test. I encourage the students to get a parent signature on their assessments.  Ever child that returns their tests within a week receives a Dojo point.
