NOTE: Mid-terms were sent home today.   Also, MAP goal  sheets were attached to the daily agendas.  Make sure you take time to review all progress reports.  Please sign and return the parent portion of the documents.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the information.

Mrs. Turner and London are rotating through our Derby Read the room activities.

Students learn "non -fiction" information about the Kentucky Derby during our read the room scoot.

Students shared the information contained on their slides with the class.  We learned a lot of interesting facts about the history of the Kentucky Derby.
We also practiced our math facts several times.   It's important be able to apply our subtraction skills in real life problems.  The square math group used their new skills to figure out how many years the Kentucky Derby has taken place.

We also learned that horses are measured in hands.  One hand is equal to 4 inches.

The third grade students stopped by to let us view their unique hat creations,  Every student got to vote on their favorite hat from each class.

Here are a few of the hats that we had an opportunity to judge.  The students enjoyed having these creative students visit our room.

Ms. Tipton and Mrs. Cambel enjoyed the parade of hats.

Please keep in mind that every student met with Ms. Tipton to discuss their mid term report cards.   Report cards were sent home today.  We stapled them inside each child's agenda. MAP reading and Math goal sheets are also attached to the midterms.  Please sign and return the reports.
Oops, our assessment for today's lessons is upside down.  Hopefully you had an opportunity to view the actual assessment inside your child's daily BEE binder.   We learned a lot of important facts.

Derby Math Clock review helped us practice our word problem skills to the hour, 1/2 hour and 1/4 hour.  We also reviewed a.m. and p.m.
Take a look at the fillies as they prepare for their big race.

Now it's time for the colt, and of course Ms. Black joined in the fun.

Ms. Huff participated in the fun too.

Here are the top 3 fastest girls that participated in the Run for the Roses.
Take a look at the 3 fastest boys.
Ms. Tipton was the master of ceremony for the Derby events.  She had a wonderful time participating .
Ask your child to explain our class relay events.

We all had a fabulous Derby Day.  We hope that everyone enjoys the outdoors this weekend.
