Back On Track

Wedd had a birthday on Dec. 18th.   We celebrated it this week, since we missed her special day during the winter break.
Ethan missed his special day to celebrate too.  He had a birthday on Jan. 24th.  The class enjoyed a cupcake treat from him.
We really enjoyed making the penguins.  A huge thank you to every parent that send in the needed supplies.  You really need to stop by the room and take a peek at the unique creations.

We are continuing to read  Eve of the Emperors Penguins.  Jack and Annie are having quite an interesting adventure.

The class has been reviewing basic addition and subtraction strategies.  They enjoyed playing the doubles plus one game in pairs.   I have included the instructions, so you can make the game at home.

We are working on determining the difference   between fact and fiction.

We are learning to add and subtract 2 digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping.

Breanna was one of the weather reporters today.
 Nadeer gave today's weather report.
We are fully back on track after the snow break.  Please keep in mind that each child has a weekly reading assignment.
Look at the Elephant reading club.  These are the members that got Dojos for completing their weekly work on time.   They are really becoming fluent readers.

We're growning snowflakes

We will be making our Penguins tomorrow.  We need 4 two liter bottles.  If you happen to have an empty two liter bottle, it would be greatly appreciated.

The children really enjoyed creating habitats for their penguins.

Abby Sparrow is the Super Star Student this week.  She's very proud of her accomplishment!
Ask your child to explain which habitat they made.  Also ask about how their penguin faired when the light source was added.

You might have to look closely, but the penguins are evident in the photos.

We are on chapter seven of the Eve of the Emperor Penguin by Mary Pope Osborne.
Today we focused on the math strategy of doubles.  The technology center was correlated to the skill.

We are growing snowflakes in the room.  Hopefully, we will see big changes overnight.  Your child should be able to explain what materials we used to conduct this exciting experiment.

Connor was one of the weather reporters today.  He gave a great report.
Nicholas was also a weather reporter today. He too did a wonderful job presenting the frigid weather report.
