This message was sent out to our staff today.  As the weather gets warmer, please be adhere to the Hearn Dress Policy.
Please remind your students of the dress code policy on shorts and tank tops.  Shorts must be longer than finger tips when arms are extended at their sides and shoulders not scrunched up.  Shirts must be 3 fingers wide (their fingers) to meet dress code.

We have two students of the week. Congratulations to Jordon Turner and Cameron Davenport.
Lena was in the "Author's chair " today.  She read with expression and entertained us all with her fiction book.

Today was Math day for our class.  In an effort to help students feel more confident during MAP testing tomorrow, we review many of the math standards that we have covered this year.
We are learning to check our subtraction problems through addition.    This is a new skill for us.
Here are a few of the problems that we completed as part of our review process.

The Square math club asked me to explain division to them.  Many of the advanced students will encounter division at some point on the assessment. Keep in mind that this is an advanced skill, and not required for first grade.

Students solved and explained the answers to their peers.  They all did an excellent job in the teaching role.

Ask your child to explain the new math centers that we will begin on Wednesday.  We will spend 15 minutes reviewing skills that have been covered in 1st grade.  Students will work in pairs.

Ms. Tipton will model each center over the next week.  This will ensure that students meet with greater success.
