May 6th


Addie read Pinkalicious to us on Monday.  She was an excellent guest reader.
Elin is the student of the week. Congratulate her when you see her.
We are learning how to add and subtract two digit number with and without regrouping.
It is important to practice word problems.  Students need this practice, so they can apply their knowledge to real life problems.  We are adding several daily word problem to our daily routine.


Ask your child about our "15 day countdown pop."  The class generated the list of daily rewards that they can earn.
 We look forward to getting into the mystery MAP  reward container tomorrow.  We are looking forward to sharing our growth with each family.  The students did really well.
Camryn was the reader of the day on Wednesday.  She read part of a chapter to the class.

 The square math group is working on 3 digit -3 digit math problems.  
 Students are explaining the process to their peers.
 The circle club worked on partner math facts while Ms. Tipton instructed the other groups.

 Compass learning math is also part of our math center rotations.


 We are learning to apply all the skills that we are learning.  We sorted our answers into odd and even categories.  Stop by our hallway display to view today's math activity.



  Ask your child to explain our subtraction poem.   We are chanting this each time that we solve a problem.  It is important that the students internalize this information.
 Sit by a friend will be our Thursday reward.  We popped a blue balloon at the end of the day. Please keep in mind that students will be allowed to select the friend that they want to sit beside, as long as they can still be actively engaged in the learning process.  The teacher reserves the right to make changes in their selection.
 Every students should bring home information about how to order a year book.  Orders are due by May 20th.
