May 4-5 MAP Reading Tomorrow May 6th

Students will be taking the reading MAP assessment tomorrow.   Although we have worked on the assessed components daily, we reviewed the general format and standards that they may encounter on the assessment.  This was to help the students approach the testing with confidence.
All students have spent the entire year learning skills that will help them further their individual growth and developemnent.  I look forward to sharing student progress with each family.

Small groups meet with Ms. Tipton to review standards that they will covered on the MAP assessments.
Leslie and Prisalla are both of Mexican ancestry, so  we learned about Cinco de Mayo today.

We went to the book fair  as a class.  The book fair will be open until 12:00 on Friday.  It is open each morning prior to the start of the day.  Students must have a parent present to visit the book fair before the start of school.  It will also be open until 7:00 on Wednesday May 6th.  Any student wishing to purchase a book outside those hours needs to let Ms. Tipton know that they have money and she will make arrangements for them to make their purchase.
Here a few of the skills that students will see as part of MAP testing:

Students are given a variety of Language Arts questions to answer during the testing process.  The questions are based on each child's ability level.   All first grade standards are addressed during testing.  Many students will advance to second , third and fourth grade level skills.     Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and comes to school ready to do their best.  We want every student to participate in our growth celebration.
