Sept. 29-30

It may look like we are laying on the floor, but.. we are actually making our bodies into the shape of a period as we read our choral reading peom ABC Watermelon is good for me!
 Now we are question marks.
Here is the title of today's literature club book.  We are working on identifying the main characters, setting, and key details.  Each student recorded the beginning, middle and end to the story.
We are thrilled to have 3 additional computer stations in our room. They will be used throughout the year for many academic purposes.   Today the students listened and read the Three Little Pigs by James Marshall.

Students are working on nouns at the writing station.
At  the word work station they are practicing the short O words,
Ms. Tipton is meeting with individual reading clubs.  Each club is reading The Contest.

We have worked on using kind words with our friends. We have classified words and actions into Peace Makers and Peace Breakers.
This week our phonics lessons are based around the short "o" sound.

The exercise ball has been introduced to our room.  It is helping all us with our posture and seating positioning.
We are working on singular and plural nouns.  Students are learning the spelling rules for making plural nouns.
The class is demonstrating that singular means one.

Plural means more than one.

We completed our number bond unit today. We concluded the unit by making "number bond people" and writing a  word problem to go along with the number bond that the students completed.     Each word problem has to have at least one nouns, start with a capital letter, and have the correct punctuation mark at the end of the sentence.

Today we practiced friendship skills.  Students role played every day situations and how we should treat our friends.

Standing in line in our own personal space is often an issue.  A small group of students demonstrated how to address a classmate politely if they are pushing or cutting in line.
It was wonderful to see so many dads, uncles and grandfathers at the Watch Dog event.  If you were unable to attend, but would like information about the program, please contact the FRC coordinator- Ms. Tate for further details.
