A huge thanks for all the students that brought basketballs for our basketball reward.
Don't forget that reading homework is due tomorrow.
We reviewed counting on by 10's, verbs, nouns, word families:-ock, -ful, -ink , and greater and less than today.
Look at what we are doing as part of Calendar math:
Money is not a first grade standard, but very important to master early in life. We are going to work on money skills every day until the end of the year. We are reinforcing counting on and how to add more than 2 sums. We wrote "how to piece" on how to blow a bubble. The students enjoyed this "Hands On" learning experience. The completed writing piece will become part of your child's writing portfolio. Students will share there work with you during the student led conferences on May 28th.
We practiced our bubble blowing skills. We focused on the importance of including small details and adjectives to help the reader be able to learn how to blow a bubble. The following photos are pictures of the students practicing the steps of how to blow a bubble.
Ms. Tipton was thrilled with Andy's map scores today. She went a little crazy and pulled a Miss Fizzle. Ask your child about how silly Ms. Tipton can be at times.
Ms. Cambell stopped by and assisted us with the "how to" writing assignment. She joined in the fun.
Students illustrated the First, Next, Then, Finally stages of the writing piece. Lena added a lot of details to her illustrations. She's a fabulous artist.
Ask your child to tell you about the basketball reward celebration. We all enjoyed the extra Hoop time!
I hope to see lots of you all in attendance at tonight's Spring Fling.
