April 28-29

 Take a look at our  amazing incredible math facts for the daily date.  Several students are learning to turn repeated addition facts into multiplication.  
During work on writing the students are journaling  about their favorite meals.  They are labeling the food items and placing them into the food groups.  
 Kayden Kincaid is now 7 years old.  His family joined him on his special day.

He shared cupcakes with the entire class.  Happy Birthday to Kayden.  



 The students are learning to handle all the daily routines.  Here are the attendance clerks for the next two weeks.
 Don't forget that we have some special activities planned on  Friday at 1:30.  Students should wear tennis shoes.  They may also wear a Derby Hat. Please contact Ms. Tipton is you are available to assist, or if you just want to  come and join in the fun.
 Today we reviewed prepositions.  Each day we are revisiting some of our past skills. We are preparing for MAP testing next week.





 The Cardinals are reading this book and learning about the value of coins at the same time.  


 We know all the coin combinations to make 25 cents.

 Prisalla was the reader for Tuesday, April 28.   She entertained her audience as she read with expression.  Nice job Prisalla!
 Nicholas was the reader on Wednesday.  Not only did he do a nice job capturing the the audiance's attention, but his book had a unique ending.  Ask your child to tell you about how the Hamster won the race.
 Student's are being assessed daily on their individual oral reading levels.  We want to congratulate Leslie for now reading at a level 22.  20 is the goal for all first graders.   If your child already reached a level 20 or above on the Winter assessment they will not be tested again.  Everyone will take the MAP reading and math assessments.

 The Wildcats started a new chapter book today.
 We competing against partners, while advancing our math skills.  Every student is paired with a peer that is functioning on about the same developmental level in math.   Each student has a chance to earn points for their team.  
 Other team members have an opportunity to "teach" their teammates.   Students are able to explain the correct strategies to each other.  



 Everyone is working the given problems in their seats too.   It's an exciting way to practice our new 2 and 3 digit addition skills.
