Buzzing with Excitement for Learning

Our focus this week was on sequencing the events in a story.  Small groups read a variety of books and we sequenced the events in the stories.  This group is working on "Growing Tomatoes".

He student made a mammal as an assessment activity.  They used their research skills and knowledge gained to state two facts about their mammal. Stop by view our new bulletin board.

The daily five is in full swing.   These students are working at the "listen to reading " station.

Breanna is researching mammals.

Word work is lots of fun!
We are working hard on defining our own personal space during whole group lessons.  Ask your child what the expectations are for whole group circle time.

We ended our unit on fact families with a Friday Fun  activity.  Students created a fact family house and wrote addition or subtraction stories using their facts.
Friday was "Buzzing with Bee Knowledge."  We will continue our studies  next week.   We sequenced the events of making our class bee treat.  Thank you to those families that helped provide the eatable treat.

We read The Bee Tree by Patricia Polacco.  The students used their sequencing skills order the events in students.

Ms. Collier worked with a group of students during the daily five center rotation.  This group was at the "read to someone" station.
Buzz Said the Bee

Nadeer is conferencing with a parent volunteer.  They are working on writing skills.
Ms. Tipton's group is writing story problems .  We focused on the use of key words, all together, how many total, how many are left..  to include in our stories.
Check out our Mammal bulletin board.
