April 20th

 Important Date:     

         Tonight- PTA Meeting at 5:30

March of Dimes: Donation money will be collected daily April 20-May 1 (please clearly label money that should be placed towards the donation
·         May 8th= Boxtop Collection
·         May 21st- Spring Fling

Phonics assessment will be on Friday April 24th

Bonus: support, enormous
 Students completed an on demand writing prompt on Friday.
 The students that whispered the code word " place value" in my ear received a drink treat.  
 Students used a graphic organizer to generate their response to the on demand prompt.

Ms. Tipton shared the writing performance rubic with the students.  We use rubrics to assess the student's written performances.  This gives the students a clear understanding of what we will be assessing.   


 Ms. K stopped by to listen to a few of their on demand responses.
 Ms.  conferences with individual students regarding their on demand responses.
 Several students shared their responses aloud.
 Ms. Tate stopped  by a visit too.   We welcome visitors in our room.  
 The Friday dojo reward was water color painting.

 We started a nutrition unit today.  



Students learned about the digestive system.

Anthony is the superstar student of the week. Graduate him when you see him. 
Students are learning to use proper questioning skills.
We are continuing our study of comparing and contrasting to the adventures of characters and stories.
Students are practicing their peer editing skills. They read their personal narrative to their teach partner.




Reading clubs read fractured stories today.l. They compared the various versions of each fairytale in small groups.
Students continue to use compass learning as much as possible. Mrs. Tipton has designed instruction based on each individual child's growth goals.
We learned about contractions.
Students played the game are you my partner.









We are learning to add and subtract numbers using place value cubes. 



 Students continue working on building their math fluency through the use of mad minute math assessments.

Today we learned about plant adaptations.
