Don't forget that Friday is our Library Day and Spelling Assessment Day

We learned that months of the year begin on different days of the week. This was a difficult concept for many of our first graders.  Students will be completing calendar activities each day.  

 Today was "read and write the room" day.

 We looked for singular and plural nouns.

We placed the words the correct column- either  singular noun or plural noun.

 We have lots of opportunities for movement throughout the day.  Students are given "wiggle to the music " breaks.  We are working hard on reducing the amount of off task behaviors during the day.  Please remind your child that they are at school to learn.   I promise to make the learning process a fun one, but some students are interrupting the learning process of others.

 We used the crazy scissors to add our choral reading-Short 0 poem into our word work notebooks.

 We are learning to retell familiar stories to a partner.  Each team was asked to name the character, setting, problem and solution of the fairy tale- The Three Little Pigs.

 We are working on Main Idea.  Ask your child to tell you the main idea of this story.

Each table was given one key event from the story.  As a class we sequenced the events and discussed the Main Idea.
