Ball Toss Math

Don't forget to look for the error on the blog tonight.  If your child whispers the error in my ear tomorrow morning they will get a reward.

 Halloween Note:
A lot of people have been asking about students dressing up for Halloween.  Since Red Ribbon Week will be going on we are encouraging students to "Dress for Success" on Halloween.  Students may dress up as future careers (doctor, teacher, firefighter, etc...).  No goblins, zombies, vampires, ninjas, or Frozen characters will be accepted.  Mr Lee will have a message on the phones calling system in the near future.  I have already explained this to the children.  If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

These additional challenge words where added to the spelling list.
  jump, truck, drum, umbrella
Keep in mind that these words are only challenge words.  Students will receive one extra bonus point for the correct spelling of each word.

Take a look at the literature club activity of the Day.  We worked on sequencing the events of the story and rhyming  words.

London had two special guest visitors in our room today.  Her mom and grandmother stopped by to pay her a visit.   Please remember that we love to have visitors in our room.
A very special birthday to Prisalla Dunn.  Today is her birthday!
Ask your child about the ball toss math game that we played together.  We are working on counting on from the largest number.  Today we added 5 to each number that was on the ball.

 This was our assessment of the ball toss game.   0+5= 5,   3+5= 8     6+5= 12     and   4+5=9
Hint:   Look closely at this section of the blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Students were encouraged to use the number line to solve the addition problems and to check their computations.
We had our first Watch Dog dad visit.  Mr. Perkins stopped by to work with our students.  Several children read the literature club book of the day with him.  This is a wonderful way for men to be involved in our school.  If you would like to participate contact Pamela Tate from the family resource center.   She would be glad to explain the program to you.  contact information:        pamela.tate@franklin.kyschools.us

Students will be bringing home weekly reading assignments this week.  Watch for the book bags in their backpacks.
