Long i as Y

There will be opportunities for your child to purchase EXTRAS at the zoo (souvenirs, ice cream, train ride, etc.). If you would like for your child to have these things, please send them with money in a Ziploc baggie.

Also, if you are sending in a sack lunch for your child, please make sure EVERYTHING is in a disposable container. We would like for them to be able to toss everything after lunch, that way they won’t have to carry it around all day.

Remember… If your child is riding back with you, we will need a note sent in by this Friday.

Thanks! J
The students enjoyed a review game of around the world subtraction this week.  Many of us are working on learning to subtract faster.  Please continue working on this skill at home!

This week we are studying prefixes.  A prefix changes the root word to make a new work.
The students are taking turns reading to the class. Jenny read a fiction story to the class.   She had most of the book memorized, so we know she practiced at home.   It was a very entertaining story.
Connor read "Today I will Fly"  He did a fabulous job sharing this fiction story.

We are learning all about Super Y.   When Y is in a word with 3 letters or less- it makes the long I sound.  When Y is in a word that has more than 3 letters- it makes the long E sound.

Brody read a silly story to the class.  It was a fiction story, and he did a wonderful job reading with expression.
