Fabulous Friday and NO SCHOOL MONDAY!

Spelling Words for next week:   ( ai,ay)

day, stay, play, today, rain, pail, wait, afraid, goes, been
challenge words:   train, paint, grain, pray, January

We went on a Read the Room pronoun/noun hunt.

Every student  had an opportunity to "show what they knew" during out interactive shape lessons.  Students had to read the prompt and share their answer with the class.  I was assessing their knowledge of 3D shapes.

We learned about shape symmetry .  A rectangle can be divide in 1/2.

A circle can be divided in 1/2.
But a circle can also be divided into 1/4's.   We learned the term fourths and quarters.  We used money to help us make a connection.

Friday was the Leader of the Month assembly. Unfortunately our Leader of the Month- Lily Perkins, had a death in her family.   She was unable to attend the assembly. If you see Lily, congratulate her on her accomplishment.

Alex visited the students prior to the spelling assessment.
Alex helped Ms. Tipton monitor the room while assessing the students.

We  now all have an assigned spot on our carpet.  Ask your child to tell you where they will sit during whole group carpet activities. Hopefully, this will allow for better listening and participation from the students.

These pictures are action packed.  The students enjoyed their basketball reward party with Mr. Counts, Ms. Tipton and Mr. Lee.  It was a nice reward for all the students that made positive gains on the Winter MAP Reading and Math assessments.

Take a look at our HOOP REWARD RECIPIENTS.

The student used their attribute skills to create shape monsters.  Ask you child to describe what they made.  They also used their writing skills to describe the shaped that they included in their creation.  Stop by our new hallway display to view our work.
Friday Team Tipton meeting is a wonderful way for the students to voice concerns and joys about our room and teammates.
We had such a wonderful week that Ms. Tipton rewarded everyone with a small juice treat.
Don't forget that each reading club met this week.  Every student has one week to complete their reading buddy bag assignments.
Stop by and look at out Shape Monsters.

Thanks again to Mr. Lee and Mr. Counts for helping us celebrate our learning goals.
Have a safe long weekend.  I look forward to seeing all the children again on Tuesday, January 20th.
