Veteran's Day and Patriotism

We have started Bucket Fillers.
Students are sending bucket fillers to their friends.  Bucket fillers are positive thoughts about our friends.  The students are using their written communication skills on a daily basis.  We are all working on complete sentences with the correct punctuation .   Writing a note to a classmate is a great way to practice our new skill acquisition.
We studied about Patriotism today.  We learned many facts about Freedom, rights and responsibilities.    We incorporated the use of pattern, vertical/horizontal lines, and shapes into our lesson.  We often integrate arts and humanities standards into our lessons.
Each student made a replica flag.   Ask your child to tell you at least 3 facts that they learned today.
We learned about our National Anthem and practiced our reading skills while learning the song.  Don't forget that singing is another great way to increase reading fluency skills.

We learned what the words in America the Beautiful mean and defined unfamiliar words.

Mr. and Mrs. Gannone served in the Marine Corp.    They were our honored guests today.
Addie's Mom and Dad both stopped by for a visit too.  We want to thank them for coming back to the room and lending a helping hand with our lessons.

Mr. and Mrs. Gannone shared about their time in the Marines.  The students learned many interesting facts about their years of service.   Ms. Gannone speaks Korean and Mr. Gannone speaks Arabic.   We want to send them a very special thank you for taking time out to come and help us all grow our knowledge about Veteran's Day.

We used the world map to locate the places around the world they visited while in the service.
We had a very special Veteran's Day assembly in the gym.  We  practiced our best audience manners.

A very special is sent to all families that have served in any of the branches of the military.  We appreciate your patriotism!
