Ask your child to explain our new whole group literature read-a-loud book.   Nicholas is volunteering to read to the class.
Charlotte's Web by E.B. White is the book that we are reading during teacher read-a-loud.
Student's work in small groups to complete an interactive reading packet.   We are putting all of our reading standard knowledge to good practice.  This book introduces the students to knew vocabulary words daily.  We are using decoding skills, root words, and reading the words in context to figure out the meaning of these new words.   We are working on main idea, key details, character, setting and much more.

We worked hard on doubles and doubles plus one all last week.  We will be assessing addition skills, missing addends, word problems, counting on, skip counting...  on Wednesday.   Please continue practicing basic addition and subtraction facts nightly.
Mr. Counts  visits our classroom every other Tuesday at 1:30.  He taught a lesson to try and teach the students to better focus their attention on tasks.  He emphasized the need to block out outside distractions.  This is a valuable skill for everyone to learn.   A big thank you to Mr. Counts for stopping by Team Tipton bi-weekly.

Ms. Tipton drew numbers for classroom Bingo Behavior Rewards.  Make sure you ask your child if their name was selected.   If so, what reward did they choose. All rewards will be cashed in over the next two weeks.  Additional computer time, seat swap with a friend, sitting at the teachers desk for the day, take their shoes off during work time, bring a stuffed animal to school for the day... are just a few of the rewards that students selected for being caught being good.
We used our dry erase boards to study phonic skills and prepare for our weekly spelling assessment.  Please sign and return all spelling tests weekly.  Note that due to the snow day and the Thanksgiving holiday, the students will take their spelling test on Monday Nov. 24th.  See the word list at the top of this page.  Phonics skill: diagraphs- sh th and ch

Take a look at all the students that returned their weekly reading assignment on time and completed.   We are not having a weekly reading assignment the week of Nov. 18-21st due to reader's theaters.
Please try and attend our presentations on Tuesday Nov. 25th at 11:10.

We want to thank Hearn Elementary for purchasing  our new "piece of the puzzle shirts."
Each student is truly an important part of the the entire puzzle.

Reading clubs are working hard on preparing for Thanksgiving reader's theater performances.  Today was our first time to read through the plays, audition for preferred parts and highlight our scripts.

The students played Jeopardy today. We reviewed all math concepts that we have recently acquired.

Each student solved the review question on their white board.  The assessment over chapter 3 will be tomorrow.

We look forward to an even filled week of  action packed learning.

Code word:    verb- a verb is a word, it's an action word, if you can do it, you can do it- it's a verb.

Whisper the code word and phrase in Ms. Tipton's ear prior to Friday for a Dojo.

Dojo reward celebration will be on Friday.   Students that have 20 or more dojos will participate in the reward celebration,.
