Number Bonds

We are reviewing all short a sound and making upper and lower case letters.

Students are actively singing along with  the short a rap.

The students enjoyed playing "beat the teacher."  They had 3 minutes to write as many short a words as they could do so. Miss Tipton competed against them. Nicholas and Cayden were winners of the contest. They got to pass the Fuzzby to their friends. Each student contributed a short a word to our class chart.

Take a look at the short a book that we used for choral reading on Tuesday.  We also identified the rhyming words on each page.

We introduced making number bonds by  making number Bond bracelets. Each student selected their own 10 B and the color of their bracelet. Bracelets were used to make number Bond problems.

How are spelling test will be on Thursday this week. Students took a pretest with Ms.  Tipton. They all use their dry erase markers and whiteboards.

During her morning snack, Ms.  Tipton is reading Junie B Jones. We review beginning middle and end and story sequencing each day.

What a wonderful treat for all of the current students. Mary Almato was our guest author. Ask your child to explain the "WOW" writing strategy.

The daily five rotation is going well! The students are using the weekly spelling words in their journal writing.
At making word students practice each spelling word and then use Play-doh to mold the complete words
Read to a partner is always one of the favorite center rotations.
Some students choose to read to themselves.
During center rotations Ms. Tipton works with small groups of students. Focusing on core content strategies

Students will complete monthly calendar activities that are interactive with the math curriculum.

Don't forget that we will be taking our spelling test tomorrow. No school on Friday!
