Reading Club and Map Skills

Ms. Tipton starts the day working with small groups of students. This is during the arrival time.  Between 7:15-7:45.

Our class has completed 4 Junie B. Jones book during read-a-loud time.  Ask you child to describe the characters in our last book.    This is just an example of the books.  Your child wrote in their journal  about today's story. Ask them what: " What pet did Junie B. take to share with the class.
We want to say a special thank you to Jenny's mom- Mrs. Lutchenco for coming and helping with our class butterfly crayon melting.  Make sure you ask your child to tell you three differences between a butterfly and a moth.  They are making these butterflies as part of our learning experience.   Stop by and view our new friends.
Literature clubs are really buzzing.  Ms. Collier is working with the Tigers. They started a new book: Arthur's Loose Tooth.
The Wildcats are started a new chapter book.    This book will help make a connection to our "Flat Chelsea and Chip" community homework and our Map and Globe studies.  Flat Stanly is off to visit Mt. Rushmore.

The Owls are working very hard on sequencing events in stories, using multiple reading strategies to decode unfamiliar words, and making inferences as they read.   We are partner reading, round robin reading ( one student at a time) and reading as a whole group ( reading the passage altogether).   You can be very proud of the progress of each and every student in this group.

Tomorrow we will have a new bulletin board in the hall.  We have focused our geography skill on learning the name of our continent, country, state, city, street, and our planet. Our hands on "this is me on the map" globes will be finished tomorrow.
