April 8th.

Mimi shared a wonderful book that she made for the KET writing contest.  We are all very pleased with her hard work. Her story is about a child that is leaving Korea and moving to the United States.  Mimi worked very hard on her water color illustrations and the plot of her story. We wish her well in the competition!

Jacob made a story that he shared with our class. His main character was named Izzy.  He too worked hard on his story and enjoyed sharing it with the class.  I want to encourage other students to share any stories that they write at home  with our room.  We are currently writing fictional pieces during the school day , but I know that many students work hard on writing at home too!
We are learning to type without looking at the keys.  We started by feeling the bumps on the f and j homerow keys.
Then we added covers to all the keys.  These covers are helping the students learn how to type properly.

Take a look at our daily five  fairy tale center rotations.  Listen to readings- fairy tale on tape
                                  Partner reading

                       Word work- blends
And writing conferencing with Ms. Tipton. Students are in the beginning stages of writing their own fictional fairy tale.
We reviewed place value. All students should now understand ones, tens, and hundreds.  If your child is in the circle math club they should know place value up to the thousands.
