Author's Celebration

You are Invited!

Come celebrate your child's hard work at our Author's Celebration on March 26th @7:15-8:15.  Students will share their Animal Research Power Points

Ms. Collins helped us learn how to add design to our power point slides.   She and Ms. Blankenship have gone out of their way to teach us a knew technology skill each day.  We are grateful for all their help and our power points  really show what we learned.

Ethan was the student guest reader this week.  He read with fluency and expression.
We are working with the long "u" word family this week.  The students went on a scavenger hunt around the room to locate words.   Ask your child to tell you at least two different ways to make a long "u" word.

Take a look at the daily five rotation today.  The class has really learned how to work together to improve their reading.  We use a variety of strategies to make this process fun, yet educational . These students were at "Read to Self."
These students are at the "Listen to Reading."

This is the Daily reading club that met with the teacher today.  Clubs meet with teachers during the daily five rotation.   If your child is in the Thursday reading club they read Snow Camping.  After the completion of the story we watched a video of the Ice Hotel in Quebec Canada.   The children were amazed.   You can watch a video of the hotel on YouTube.
Mrs. Blankenship has taught us so many new things to improve our research projects. We want to send out a special thank you to her for all that she has taught us. Every student know knows how to cite their sources and cut and paste photos into their text.  Today we learned about another free source that is available to Wellington students. Ask your child about the photos that they added to their power point projects.

Ms. Prather is lending a helping hand.
Ms. Tipton is conferencing with individual students.  She is making suggestions about how they can improve their written work.

Nicholas is now 7.  A very Happy Birthday to him.  Thank you to Mr. Dave for delivering the cupcake treat today.
Don't forget that if your child has a summer birthday they can select any date prior to the close of this school year for us to celebrate.
