Week Two Literacy Acitivites

We completed our first chapter book. Ask your child to tell you their favorite part of this story.

We practiced our spelling words using play-doh. A big thank you to Brody and his family for providing a class set of play-doh.  The first spelling assessment will be on Thursday August 22nd.

Ask your child to sing the short "a" vowel sound song to you.   We are reviewing one vowel each week.

We started our poetry and Language Arts binders too.   This week the students will be using several reading poems and short stories to located short "a" vowels.   Al the Alligator was the choral reading for the day.

In math we are spending the short week reviewing number words (one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine and ten) and ordinal numbers. The class used the turn and talk study buddy technique to review spellings, and number and name matching.

Please review number names at home !!
This afternoon we had our first Fire Drill. Team Tipton did a fabulous job exiting and reentering the building.  Please praise your child for their excellent behavior.

Please have you child whisper the following code word in my ear tomorrow if you read this blog page.     "Alligator"
