March 10th

Small groups of students are working with Ms. Tipton on how to use the text to answer comprehension questions accurately.
I am assessing each individual student on their reading and writing growth goals.
We are learning how to sort data in up to three categories using a bar graph.

The words for today are: vertical, horizontal,  and pictograph.

We are learning to use a key.  Students are learning that keys can have different values.  Each pencil represents 1 vote on this horizontal bar graph.

The paint brushes = 2 votes each. Note that the green paint brush represent 1/2 of the brush which equals 1 vote.
We are learning to survey to collect data:
We used our survey of our favorite unusual pets to make our own vertical bar graph.
Students recorded their results in their math journals.
We are learning to interpret the results by using higher order thinking skills.  " How many more students liked rabbits than guinea pigs?    11-2=9   Which pet was the LEAST favorite? guinea pigs
We will have our pinata celebration on Friday at 2:00.  Snowy is large, so he can still hold any additional small treats, candy, objects..   Please send your goodies by Friday.
